EFFECTIVE SAFETY AND HEALTH COMMITTEE

INTRODUCTION TO EFFECTIVE SAFETY AND HEALTH COMMITTEE

The goal of this course is to make employers and committees more aware of their duties in creating and maintaining safe and healthy workplaces. It covers the creation of an effective Safety & Health Committee as well as a full overview of the legislation. The use of words like “should” or “work together” does not imply that the committee is legally required to take any action that is discussed.

The Occupational Safety & Health Act of 1994 and the Safety & Health Committee Regulations partially outline the legal requirements for the committee, including the promotion of consultation and cooperation between management and employees in enhancing safety and health at work, the provision of a two-way communication channel, and the dissemination of information on safety and health issues.
