CHEMICAL HEALTH RISK ASSESSMENT

INTRODUCTION TO CHEMICAL HEALTH RISK ASSESSMENT

A requirement of the Use and Standard of Exposure to Chemical Hazardous to Health (USECHH) Regulations 2000 is Chemical Health Risk Assessment (CHRA). In compliance with this regulation, the employer is required to do a thorough analysis of the possibility of employee exposure to potentially harmful chemicals. A choice can be made regarding the most appropriate control measures, employee training, monitoring, and health surveillance activities as may be necessary to protect the health of employees who may be harmed by their activities with potentially harmful substances. The goal of CHRA is to detect, assess, and recommend risk management strategies for any health risks related to occupational activities including the use of chemicals.
